My Paying off party before leaving Totem, the Submarine Service and the Royal Navy

The Gallon of pickled Onions is an absolute prerequisite aid to help you swallow the anchor!
9th' September 1957 I flew back to H.M.S  .Dolphin in the U.K. to start the procedure for my leaving the royal Navy and transferring on to the fleet reserve list. This I duly did and I officially SWALLOWED THE ANCHOR on 16th'December 1957  exactly three months short of what would have been ten years service in the Royal Navy.
